White Dog was excited when she came in from the yard. "Momma, the tree is starting to develop leaf buds! Soon the birds will be building nests in the big tree. Can you feel it? Spring is coming!"

At that, all of the White Dog Army rushed into the yard singing a song of welcome and looking for Spring.
When Roman came in he said, "I could smell it, momma; it is like earth and things growing.!"
Bailey noted the sun made the sun porch warm enough to nap on again. "ALMOST, My Girl," I told her.
"I could not tell what it is by tasting," Zsofia announced, "but I found GREEN shoots coming up."
Pearl turned and agreed with White Dog. "There are buds on the trees out front, too! Spring IS coming!"

I looked out of the window with the Little White Dog of My Heart who has always had a fondness for watching the world come back to color and life this time of year. "When will Spring be here do you think, momma?" she asked.

I motioned to the top of the wall where a black bird hopped along. "Raven is the trickster," I told her. "I would suspect that he and Old Man Winter still have a trick or two waiting but Mother Nature always wins the contest and Spring arrives bright and beautiful. It will be soon, Sweet One. VERY soon."
