White Dog and the White Dog Army looked up from dinner bowls and started wagging. We were fussing with Nilla, holding her and massaging her legs. As usual, Steve had a bowl to offer. Sometimes she will lap up the water; in fact usually she will take some sips. But she has become less interested in bone broth or cream or thinned yogurt...food things. Tonight, we were attempting Ensure.

She tipped her nose into the shallow container and sniffed and moved away then returned to sniff again before finally tentatively tasting the sweet smelling stuff.

Nilla liked it enough to lick down maybe a quarter cup before moving her head to the side and indicating she was done and needed to rest. Additionally, across the day she has taken about 8 water breaks...small amounts but hydration of sorts. We all wagged with happiness.

The effort exhausted her but she dozed off to the sight of all here cheering...an offset to the times when she does not drink or eat and she senses us close our eyes to ask the Universe to grant her easy passage.
