Bambi is Back! Tomorrow!
When is the last time you saw Bambi? When you were a kid? Probably. But way back then you probably watched it several times and read a Bambi book even more, so that the illustrations and story stuck with you and became part of you and your childhood.
Perhaps you shared Bambi a few times with your own children or “grands.”
Now is your chance to watch Bambi again, as an adult – to relive the story as a child but also to appreciate it as an adult.
Bambi is 75 years old this year but will always be there for you, for the child in you. Here Walt Disney shows how Bambi affected his young daughter, Diane.
Bambi came onto the scene in 1942 during World War II: it had taken five years to create – Walt Disney wanted the experience to be ‘just right,’ and he succeeded fantastically. Bambi became the Number 3 animated film, according to the American Film Institute.

Remember the little fawn and his friends Thumper (“If you can’t say nothin’ nice, don’t say nothin’ at all.”) the thumping bunny who always says the wrong things, Flower the shy skunk, and wise old sleepy Owl - who teach little Bambi to walk and to talk (“bird,” “butterfly”) and even to ice-skate – sort of?
The Anniversary Edition (in the Signature Collection*) of Bambi becomes available tomorrow and includes the Blu-Ray plus the DVD plus the Digital HD formats so you can download Bambi and the kids can watch it in the car or just about anywhere. How cool is that?
In French and Spanish
Nowadays more kids are learning French and Spanish in school or via the Internet. Bambi can even help with language lessons and make them more fun.
For Serious Teens, Too!
Have an older youngster who is a budding artist? Perhaps he or she wants to draw animated films. This is a fun clip of the Bambi animation school that shows just how meticulous the artists are – how they study and scrutinize raindrops and blowing leaves.

Disney wanted Bambi to be as realistic a cartoon-movie as possible so he had his artists observe deer and fawns and squirrels, cavorting and jumping and drinking in the streams and just smelling the flowers. Here are the results.
Background Challenges
Early on, “Uncle” Walt realized how crowded a forest can appear with trees and leaves and bushes. Perhaps too busy in the background. Therefore, he had his incredibly talented artist Tyrus Wong use his magic paint brush to watercolor the background with magical results. The Digital HD format highlights Wong’s artistry using a beautiful palette of forest-y soft colors.
